Self Care: My Routine

Before we get started talking about the best thing about being a writer, I want to let you know that my book will be available on June 6! It’s my very first novel! You can read the first 3 chapters today and pre-order the e-book on Amazon, Google Play, or Books2Read. You can also order paperback or hardback from Barnes & Noble!

Self care is important. Not many people do it and in all honesty we as a people should. Think about how healthy mentally our society will be if we took time to care for ourselves. I will give you a couple of ways I take care of myself in the form of relaxation.

  1. Breathing exercises: Often I will sit on the floor at home and close my eyes, taking in deep breaths. I breathe through my nose and exhale through my mouth. I do this for the entire 20-30 minutes. I also will stretched all my limps and focus on my body. Where is the stress? Then I ask myself, “Why is there stress?” I do all this to the sweet relaxing sounds of the ocean waves. After the time is up, I feel amazing.
  2. Self Care questions: I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to questions for self care journaling.  I also have a board for self care in general. I will sit for about 10 minutes and just reflect.
  3. Taking Breaks: It’s important to take breaks from activities. Don’t sit in one place for hours doing one thing. I’m guilty for doing that. Working on book stuff can have me stuck for hours, but its important that I get up and watch tv, talk to my spouse or friends, or even do laundry or clean. After I write this, I’m gonna take a break and do something else.
