I wanted to start a series of Author Spotlights to help fellow authors get noticed. Today’s Spotlight interview is Author K.M. Bishop! K.M is amazing! I’m currently reading one of her books and we quickly became friends on Instagram! I love her style! Please enjoy the interview:
Let’s get to know you!
Who are you and what meal would you gladly eat forever?
K.M: I am an author from Southern Maryland who thrives on coffee, early morning workouts, books, scary movies, and podcasts on true crime. Jane Austen is my favorite author and Batman is my favorite superhero! I would gladly eat grilled cheese and tomato soup, and seafood kimchi jjigae over and over.
If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
K.M: Don’t be afraid to let other people read your work and critique it. Writers tend to be introverts, and though our dream is to have people read our work, it terrifies us at the same time. However, if we don’t have people read our work, we will never know if we are any good. I would also tell myself that if someone does not like my work, that is ok. Not everyone is going to like everything you write, and you shouldn’t let it bother you.
What would you say is the best thing about you?
K.M: I like to think I have a good sense of humor and I am pretty laid back.
Favorite movie and why?
K.M: Beauty and the Beast, the 1991 version. I honestly don’t think that needs an explanation because it’s magical and what dreams are made of.
Let’s get to know your book?
Tell us a little about your book and inspiration for it?
K.M: I honestly can’t remember what inspired The Nameless. I just wanted to write a book about a badass female assassin and I rolled with it.
What message would you like readers to get from your book?
K.M: I don’t think my book has much of a message. I just want people to enjoy the journey!
Which character was the easiest to write? Who was the most challenging?
K.M: I think my main character The Tigress was the easiest to write because she is so amazing and fun. Vron and The Master were probably the most difficult because I kept changing their roles in the story. I flip-flopped between who they were to The Tigress a few times before I settled on the final product.
K.M: Carrots, cheese, salty and crunchy things
Book you’re currently reading?
K.M: Pride and Prejudice for the 20th time (that is not an exaggeration)
How can people find you?
K.M: I’m on Instagram author.k.m.bishop, Goodreads, and Amazon. My books are also available through my publisher at www.shellvillepress.com (copies bought through there get signed!)
If you’re looking for a cool new book to read, check out The Nameless!
